Anna Morrissey (b. 1998, London, England) is an artist and writer whose painting and writing practices exist in close dialogue. She is the founder and editor of Tummy Ache, an independent arts and literature magazine.
Primarily self-taught as a painter, Morrissey also attended the Royal Drawing School, where she further developed the observational approach that underpins her work.
Her current work considers how private and familial scenes can articulate a broader political history of feeling. She is drawn to the significance of minute gestures and their ability to expose honest - often cruel - truths about relationships, while also reflecting the contours of her own psychological landscape.
