‘INSIDE VOICES,’ MAMA SALON, JULY 2026
Exploring the quiet tensions of behaviour and routine within domestic spaces. This body of work examines the complexities of intimacy shaped by sickness, dependency and caregiving, revealing what emerges when love becomes entangled with obligation.
Drawing on Donald Winnicott’s theory of the Good Enough Mother, this exhibition considers how dependence, attachment and disillusionment extend beyond childhood into adult life. Dwelling in fleeting gestures and everyday encounters, exposing the unspoken histories that underpin human connection.
The home becomes both setting and metaphor. Long associated with nurture, confinement and invisible labour, domestic space is rendered as a site where tenderness and restriction coexist. Through carefully observed scenes, these works navigate the contradictions of relationships, tracing the delicate balance between closeness and suffocation.
Emerging from my own experiences of illness, Inside Voices offers a reflection on the negotiations that sustain our closest bonds and the contradictions that shape them.
